Ben was born into a bilingual (English/French) musical family here in Riverview. He plays the piano, guitar, ukulele, and flute, but has always maintained an affinity for the piano, refining and perfecting his skills daily.

 

Ben has been taking lessons at Alison Dawn Voice and Music for 3 years. He has also attended Mount Alison University’s music program and received master classes and private lessons from pianist Dr. David Rogosin. Excelling in areas such as aural skills, conducting, musicianship, and composition. As a local pianist, Ben can be found performing at senior’s homes and churches with Alison Dawn Voice and Music. He also performs for Riverview High School, participating in Coffee House events, Royal Roads for Kids, assemblies, theatre productions in Riverview Arts Centre, and jazz band. He has also performed in the Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory of Music in Mount Alison University.

 

Ben has been awarded the Bruce Forster Dedication Award for senior and intermediate pianists at Alison Dawn Voice and Music in 2024. He was also awarded Academic Excellence in Music from Riverview East School in 2023, and another award by the same name from Riverview High School in 2024.

 

Ben aims to complete his Chopin repertoire and sign with a classical music label to release his interpretations of Chopin’s works. He is also composing his own album of solo piano works, which he aims to finish and publish.

 

Ben has a strong presence in the Riverview community and has dedicated his time volunteering at multiple local establishments and events with the Junior Leadership program of Riverview, in which he was awarded the certificate for most hours contributed by any volunteer. He also has experience teaching piano to his peers in an informal environment and was a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club of Riverview.  

 

Ben is in a band called “Birds with Gills”, where he enjoys making arrangements and original compositions. During jam sessions with the boys he shreds on guitar and piano. When he is not performing, he also enjoys acting and musical theatre.
