About Tony

Beginner to Advanced Piano, Guitar
Riverview

Toai Cong Nguyen—better known as Tony—brings a rich musical and cultural background to his teaching in Moncton. Born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, Tony began studying music at the age of six, starting with piano before exploring guitar, saxophone, box drum, and Vietnamese monochord. His dedication to music education is matched only by his passion for sharing that joy with others.

Tony holds the full certificate of piano proficiency from ABRSM and has performed in a wide variety of styles and settings—from classical concert stages in Saigon, Vietnam to coffeehouse jazz saxophone gigs and ensemble performances with the Codiac Concert Band in Moncton, NB (2018–2020). In 2013, he showcased his virtuosity with a dynamic performance of "Flight of the Bumblebee" in a Saigon concert hall. A year later, his saxophone stylings lit up the nightlife of Sai Gon, performing regularly at local clubs.

In addition to traditional Vietnamese instruments, Tony also studied the Vietnamese monochord (Đàn Bầu) during a summer intensive in 2018 and went on to perform traditional Vietnamese music at the Moncton Coliseum—bridging his heritage and his passion for performance.

Alongside music, Tony is also a high school educator at Bernice MacNaughton High School, where he teaches math & science and inspires many students with his enthusiasm and clarity. His previous teaching experience includes instructing Grades 11 and 12 mathematics & science, as well as one-on-one tutoring, and he brings that same patient, joyful energy to every music lesson. Outside of school, Tony coaches youth soccer and swimming U7, U9, and U12 divisions during the summer months—bringing the same energy, patience, and mentorship to the field and pool as he does to the classroom and music studio.
