About Kerri

Kerri, a dedicated studio parent and supporter of ADVM programs, has joined us as an instructor. With a distinguished academic background, She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance, a Diploma in Adventure Recreation, a Certificate in Adult Education, and a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology. While primarily a clinical trauma therapist, she is passionate about performance art and has a significant background in acting, singing, dance, stagecraft, directing, stage management, and production.
Kerri began her performance journey at age four with Danceast under Harriet Gratian. She spent twelve years with the award-winning Hillsborough Choir, honing her skills in music theory and choral singing under Ruth Schiller, and performed on local and international stages and sang in many other choirs and ensembles throughout the years.
As a young actor, Kerri toured with Theatre New Brunswick under Malcolm Black and Noreen Waibel and was a featured player on children's television programming for CHSJ and on CBC radio. In her undergraduate, she studied vocal techniques, performance, and stagecraft under theatrical luminaries Colin Bernhardt and Michael Bawtree, and workshopped with distinguished Canadian theatre figures including Helen Burns and Michael Langham.
After graduating, Kerri founded Footlight Theatre Company, serving as artistic director and instructor for four years, staging multiple productions including a new musical in collaboration with Nova Scotia musician Doris Mason. In 2000, she began teaching theatre in New York and enjoyed 2 seasons directing young performers in musical theatre incorporating sessions in improvisation, choreography, vocal techniques, theatre sports, and stage fighting as tools to bring musicals to life on stage.
Stage credits encompass ensemble work, supporting, and principal roles in productions including Grease, The Little Sweep, A Christmas Carol, The Miracle Worker, The Importance of Being Earnest, The House of Bernarda Alba, Spring Awakenings, The Music Man, Noises Off, A Flea in Her Ear, Our Town, Medea, Iphigenia in Aulis, The School for Scandal, The Soul of the Lonely Child, Saint Joan, The Three Sisters, The Merchant of Venice, The Glass Menagerie, A Miracle on 34th Street, The Truth About Cinderella, and Forfeits among others.
Selected directorial credits include: The Pigeon with the Silver Foot, Beauty and the Beast, Our Town, Harry and the Boss, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Snoopy! The Musical, and Waiting for Godot.
Selected Production and Stage Management credits include Our Town, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Brothers Karamazov, Murder in the Cathedral, The Music Man, Waiting for Godot, Uncle Vanya, and The Glass Menagerie.
A talented speaker and voice actor, she has provided voice-over work for documentaries, promotional videos, and advertisements, and is a sought-after keynote speaker and facilitator of corporate training and teambuilding events.
Kerri's extensive experience positions her as a dedicated theatre educator, passionate about creating trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming environments. She empowers young performers to explore creativity and self-expression within a nurturing setting, merging rigorous theatrical training with innovative performance techniques that equip students with essential skills for contemporary theatre.
